Support and information for immigrant organisations and municipalities
The organisation Incubator trains immigrant associations to work actively and independently in Finland.
Benefits of participating in an association for immigrants
Participating in immigrant organisations’ activities is a good way of learning the rules of the Finnish society, democratic decision-making processes and equality. Being a member of an association teaches one also about the working mechanisms and means of advocacy in the Finnish society. An NGO can offer its members meaningful and motivating activities and paves the way for employment opportunities and life improvement in general.
Benefits of immigrant associations for municipalities and cities
Immigrant and multicultural associations carry out valuable work towards integration in Finland. Many associations have good practices for working with the aged people, peer-to-peer support work, counselling and information services and child and youth work. Many of their integration supporting services are transferrable as part of the city’s or the local community’s immigration services or can supplement them.
What we offer for immigrant organisations
The Organisation Incubator provides information and support for those intending to start up an association. This includes support and information on finances, administration, fund raising and grant applications. The Organisation Incubator has a vast and comprehensive training scheme by which it can train new organisations in capacity-building, such as service provision for municipalities.
What we offer for municipalities
The Organisation Incubator works closely with the cities of Helsinki, Vaasa, Tampere and Hämeenlinna. Many new cities and local communities join in on a regular basis. The Organisation Incubator has offices in Tampere and Vaasa, and its services reach the Swedish speaking costal area. Please feel free to ask us advice on any questions related to the organisation of immigrant associations.
Our work is financed by the Finnish Slot Machine Association (RAY). The city of Vaasa, Regional Council of Ostrobothnia, Kulturösterbotten, City of Tampere and City of Hämeenlinna also support the Incubator.
