Refugee Woman of the Year

The Refugee woman of the year –award is handed yearly on International Women´s day to a commendable refugee woman who lives in Finland. The award was founded by the Finnish Refugee Council in 1998.

In 2009 the Refugee woman of the year –award was given to the sparkling and energetic Fatbardhe Hetemaj, aged 23, born in Kosovo. Hetemaj was commended for her outspoken and fearless action against racism in everyday life.
